5An inexpensive, well-constructed game-changer
By David Risher
If until now you've been pulling your iPhone out of your pocket to check directions and then putting it back in, this changes the game. Minutes after I installed it, I set off on a 35-mile ride north of San Francisco and was blown away by how much more helpful turn-by-turn cycling directions are when you can actually see the map. Plus the mount couldn't be simpler to install, couldn't do a better job at what it claims to do, and would still be cheap at twice the price. Don't over-think this one: if you're interested enough to be reading this review, you should probably just buy this product.

5Sturdy Cellphone Mount—Installation Instruction
This is a well designed and solidly built product, but, during installation, I managed to break it. (Details follow; read on...) Sunvalleytek, the seller, was so good as to overlook my bungling and send me a replacement bicycle mount. That, in itself, is worth five stars!

To avoid my mistake, be aware: there is a long, threaded shaft running through the jaws of the handlebar clamp. (Obviously, it has something to do with the tightness of the jaws.) On one end of this shaft is a cap nut; on the other end, is a washer and a quick-disconnect lever. Note that both the cap nut and the lever are cemented with loctite to the threaded shaft. Do NOT try to loosen the cap nut or quick-disconnect lever to adjust the jaw tension. (That's what I did. Then, when I realized that both the cap nut and the lever are supposed to remain sealed, I tried to secure them with crazy glue. The glue ran and froze the quick-disconnect lever. So I ruined a perfectly good cellphone mount.)

Note that the threaded shaft passes through a slot in the upper jaw, but it screws through a metal pivot-pin in the lower jaw. To adjust the jaw clamping tension, position the unit next to the bike handlebars with the quick-disconnect lever up and the cap nut facing down. Keeping the quick-disconnect lever extended, grasp the cap nut with thumb-and-forefinger and screw the threaded shaft until the jaw-opening just clears the handlebar. Position the unit on the handlebars and turn the cap nut and shaft (by hand) until the jaws are snug. Finally, press down and close the lever.

I don't have a smart phone, so I use this holder for my GPS (in pedestrian mode). Good luck!

5works good for my phablet.
By sleedun
I just got this an hour ago, so these are initial impressions. I have a ZTE Z970 "ZMAX", and is a 5.7" phone. My case is an Olympia Z970 Aftershock dual-layer. I was concerned that this may not fit with my case protecting it, and it is a tight fit with the case on. The bare phone fits easily, but my phone needs some kind of protection. The phone mount holds the phone securely. While I haven't had time for a road test yet, I did shake the mount while holding with phone inserted and the grip was great, and this was without using the rubber corner grips. Since I ride mainly on pavement and bike trails (no rough terrain), it should do fine. The handle bar grip is secure.

I will go on a bike ride in a few days and report any problems.
