Very worth it in my opinion!
Loving this so far! I replaced the Perc 6i with an h700. (If you do this and get a cable error after installing it, my solution was to switch cables A and B)
Currently i have four 4tb drives in raid 10 for storage, and two 1tb drives in raid 1 for the os. (was thinking about getting two more 4tb drives, so i would have six 4tb drives in raid 10, would it be better to run the OS on the raid 10 with the 6 drives or on sd/ flash? If i ran the OS on the six drive raid 10 would it impact read/write a lot?)
Running Nextcloud and Plex and it's been great so far.
I have a few questions if anyone can help i would really appreciate it:
- On Intels website it says the TCase for the E5540 is 76c, I've had the load up to 50% and the core temps got to 71c, is this normal or should i clean and apply some fresh thermal paste? The room that it's in is 70-72F all the time.
- I have some X5570's, Can i swap them with the E5540's? if so, i have 850w power supplys since the TDP will be 95w. (currently have 2x570w)
- Looking at the info on intels site it seems my ram is configured properly but i want to make sure, is there an easy way? how should it be?

Great deal. I did have to reseat the memory to get it to boot. Not unusual when it has been shipped. Working like a champ for the past month. Great for VMWare lab.

Great machine if you need some VMs.
By Bai Yang
Great performance/price. So far, no surprise. 72GB RAM, 6T hard disks, raid card...are all working. Install Windows server and setup some VMs on it, no problem. May buy another one later.
